Nate has the Drum Tracks down.
Mark has bass done.
It'd be cool if Justin would get done and I think he's doing it soon and then it'll be Dave and I after Andrew puts some mad ivory tickling up in those jams.
Should we do the chateau battle of the bands??/ I'd be game for it but I could see you hip peeps thinking it'd be lame.
Posted by Michael A Harms, Esq at August 15, 2006 08:04 PMAlso, if people could post or send me their winter break info, that'd be tight. So far I have Marks. Woot!

Posted by: Michael A. Harms at August 20, 2006 11:42 AMhey i wanted to do something so i slapped this together let me know what you think
i was thinking on the back we could have for the top 2/3 of the box's surface we could have a check that nate's hand is visibly holding that says "pay to the order of fountainhead" and "15 bucks" and then maybe something humorous in the memo section and if we needed an old hand to be passing it we've all got dads and on the bottom third we could have the rest of the band sitting against a wall looking absent
i dunno
here's the front I have, we could change it to something like "community entertainment" but whatever

Posted by: Nate at August 20, 2006 04:21 PMGentlemen, I fucking love it.
Posted by: The Reverend Doctor M. Flash at August 21, 2006 02:44 PMI like it, but the "Wash Away Loss" parts should be in quotations. Or rewrite the whole sign, the first part is kinda confusing, at least for me.
Posted by: nate at August 23, 2006 01:49 PMadjustments made
Posted by: andrew Richner at August 23, 2006 05:12 PMI think you need to blur the bottom of the quotes or something because they look like they were added on a "computer"
Posted by: Mr. Bossyboots at August 24, 2006 12:33 PMalso, they need to be skewed a bit. the sign is at an angle but the letters are facing straight forward.
Posted by: nate at August 24, 2006 12:59 PMyou are mistaken
Posted by: andrew Richner at August 24, 2006 02:24 PMlol well i guess we weren't good enough to get into the CHATEAU THEATRES BATTLE OF THE BANDS
hey im packing and back-2-school shopping for most of today but tomorrow at three pm i decided a party will be commencing at my place and we can hang out one last time ... ... .......
:(
so my phone went dead. now i have a new phone but no numbers of lovely fountainhead members or friends to fill it up. please give me numbers or i will slaughter your firstborn.
thanks,
david
p.s. chateau battle of the bands would have been fucking gay this year anyway.
Posted by: wangersmith at August 26, 2006 01:34 PMThey're just afraid you guys will rock their socks off because they are too poor to afford quality socks due to inflation of sock prices.
I can't wait to hear the cd when it comes out! I miss you all.
Posted by: Taylor at August 26, 2006 02:14 PMOh yeah! I forgot, I have enough money stashed away at this moment that my trip to MN is OFFICIAL! Anyway, I'll be visiting around Dec 10 and probably will stay until January 8.

Posted by: The Reverend Doctor M. Flash at August 30, 2006 12:20 AMCHESS UPDATE! I just played a game of chess against my friend in real life. It lasted 3 hours and it was very intense. I know a few of you play chess and thought maybe you could take a look at it and tell me what you thought (or if nothing else you could just see how awesome of a game it was)? It was one of the best games of chess I have ever played.
I had the black pieces here.
1. e4 e5
2.Bc4 Nf6
3. Nc3 Bc5
4. d3 0-0
For the most part a transposed Vienna game, this is the Falkbeer variation ended when I did 0-0 (standard response is d6 which I chose to save for later).
5. Nge2 Nc6
6. Nd5 a6
7. Be3 Bxe3
8. Nxe3 d6
9. h3 Be6
I originally marked this move in my notation. I was hoping 10. Bxe6 fxe6 (opening up my rook attacking the weak square on the side I was pretty sure he was going to castle on (somewhat like the open rook in the king's gambit). I figured too that even though I had doubled pawns, I could end up using a lot of pawn pushes to free myself and attack his clusterfuck of minor/major pieces in the center (I ultimately did this). I marked it because I wasn't sure it would ultimately benefit me in the end, also, he didn't have to castle kingside just yet.
10. Qd2 b6
I originally did this because my plan was to attack the bishop with my knight being 11.... Na5
11. Bxe6 (back to the rook plan) fxe6
12. 0-0-0 d5
13. g4 dxe4
14. g5 Nd5
15. h4 Qd6
16. Rhf1 Ncb4
17. Kb1 exd3
18. Nc3?
I couldn't believe my eyes when this happened because the next few moves are obvious (or they were to me at the time).
18.... Nxe3
19. Qxe3 dxc2+ (glorious)
20. Kc1 Nxa2+?
21. Kxc2
Ouch! Something I overlooked originally. Oh well, a blunder for a blunder I suppose. I was winning up to this point and now my plan is blown to smitherines...It was time to improvise.
21.... Nb4+
22. Kc1 Qc5
I decided to offer a queen exchange, I love simplifying to the endgame and after a few calculations I concluded that it was best to protect my knight, I still have a defend attack on the queenside and can bring my rooks to join the fun at any given point. He however didn't want her yet.
23. Qd2 e4
This takes advantage of the knight being pinned to the king. The knight cannot move obviously because that would put the king into check. This also set up for what I did next, an escort for my unholy knight. Since he would be threatening the king along the way, he would be a target for attack, and the pawn would provide sufficient protection against the queen. However, the king wasn't the target of this move as you will see later on here.
24. h5 Nd3+
25. Kb1 Nxf2 (attacking the rook, opening a way for a possible pawn promotion later)
26. Rc1 e3
27. Qe2 Qd4
I decided to maintain the pressure. There was no real threat white could pull out any time soon and I wanted to make John sweat. He went into a very very deep think here and I do believe he offered me alcohol at this point to perhaps impair my judgement even moreso than it already was.
28. h6
This move merely delayed my plans for a while. He was trying to counter attack on the kingside (usually a good thing to do when your opponent is attacking queenside). However, he really doesn't have an attack here. Do you see why?
28.... g6
This locks down the pawns on the g and h files, my king is still pretty sufficiently guarded (especially with all of his pieces defending his king at the moment since my mate threats are simply too great at this point). He can't really bring his queen to attack kingside because she'd have to maneuver through some dangerous territory to get there. All in all, I'm okay.
29. Kc2? (marked as a blunder due to John's request) Rad8
30. b3 Rfe8
I was doing so well up to this point and I didn't want to throw it away. Rfe8 was a precaution for later in case I'm out of checks on his king and my queen isn't guarding the pawn anymore. In this case, white could end up attacking on the kingside once again and I could be screwed. Also, if my other rook by the king was taken and the d-rook had to recapture, it would leave my queen undefended which is bad news bears all around. Was this really a threat? In hindsight I really didn't need to do this move, but all-in-all it was okay because I was still maintaining that same pressure and it ultimately didn't hurt me anyway.
31.Rxf2? exf2
White simply has way too much to deal with now. I have a pawn ready to advance (heavily guarded), I have mate threats on the queenside, his guard is far too overloaded to sufficiently defend and his king is incredibly exposed. At this point I was completely convinced that the game was won for black. Word.
32. Qf3 Qd2+
33. Kb1 Ref8
34. White resigns ("Taylor, I fucking hate you sometimes." "I know.")
Yeah, I'm a nerd. I just thought it was a sweet game.
Posted by: Taylor at August 30, 2006 05:45 AMdid you write all that?
Posted by: Nate at August 30, 2006 11:48 AMwell i read books so
Posted by: Michael Harms at August 30, 2006 01:06 PMYeah, I wrote all of that...I don't know, I thought it was a pretty intense game of chess. Mike, any thoughts? Comments?
Posted by: Taylor at August 30, 2006 02:06 PMtaylor if you had a way to send me an animation of the game that said your commentary along with it there's a chance I'd watch it on a school day
the odds are that some night i'll be bored and i'll act out the game and go WOAH intense but right now that's an awful lot of words and numbers for a guy to swallow PLUS i read one chess book in 7th grade so it's not like i can read the notation and go "mm... yes.."
give me time and i will give you an opinion
sup fountainhead school's on and i like my profs
Posted by: Michael Harms at August 30, 2006 06:41 PMHmmm, I might be able to do this for you. Haha, if you could just sit there and think a whole game through then you would be Alexander Alekhine! Glad to hear you like the profs.
Posted by: Taylor at August 30, 2006 08:55 PMWow you suck at chess I could do way better. Give up now.
Posted by: Alex at August 31, 2006 03:25 PMHURRRR GET IT GUYS!? IT'S ACTUALLY ALEKHINE! OH BOY! I AM ROLLING AROUND ON THE FLOOR SO MUCH THAT THE FRICTION CAUSED IT TO START ON FIRE AND NOW I AM LAUGHING MYSELF TO DEATH! (/being a dick)

Posted by: Michael Harms at September 8, 2006 11:56 AMMike I have a favor I need of you. I need to be in Wisconsin on Oct. 14th for my cousin's wedding. Here's the thing, could I, by chance, crash at your dorm the night before??? Make my drive easier, plus I'd get to see how much of a man you are at college.
Bunke, through the grapevine, I heard you wanted to travel on down and check out ISU. I could help ya out with that if you need anything.

Posted by: Michael Harms at September 10, 2006 11:24 PMI originally read Ben's post as "Rattlesnake" for some reason. I think this is my new nickname for you Ben.
Posted by: Taylor at September 11, 2006 01:37 PMI think it was 'Rattle at September' that threw me off for whatever reason.
Posted by: Taylor at September 11, 2006 01:38 PMTaylor, unfortunately you missed that bandwagon by about 10 years. People called me and my brother that way back in elementary and middle school. But if you want to revitalize it, by all means go ahead.
I'll just hate you forever...
Ah, well, I guess I'll just call you "sexy pants" then.
Posted by: Taylor at September 13, 2006 10:37 PMso... richner... how goes the cd?
Posted by: The Reverend Doctor M. Flash at September 14, 2006 12:19 PMthat's a pretty good question
Posted by: Michael Harms at September 14, 2006 06:09 PMDoes anyone still check this? If so I am currently designing a Fountainhead CD cover for my Graphic Design Class. I was wondering what the offical title is, and for a complete track listing, in order... maybe even song lengths, if that isn't asking too mcuh.
Thanks a bunch fellas. I'll post the finished image when I'm done.
