Sorry to break up your 420 race, but I thought I should make a formal post about what I've been up to lately.
I've emailed several places about getting gigs, and gotten a response back from one, The Red Sea Club in Minneapolis. I'm looking at Saturday December 17th as a promising date, but something in December is altogether likely, even if it's a weekday or a Sunday night.
So first of all, can we do it?
Second of all, how many fans from Rochester can we get up to Minneapolis for a show sometime this winter? How many people who we know can we get in Minneapolis? I think we should contact Roxbury, since rumor has it they are big fans and see if they'll help us with promotion. The million dollar question is: Would you go to Minneapolis for Fountainhead? I've given the Entertainment Manager at the Red Sea a conservative estimate of ten to fifteen, but I said we might be able to pull in one to two dozen.
The other thing is that I was also recommended to MNska.com. I've emailed someone there asking a few probing questions so we'll see how that turns out, however it will be a lot easier to book shows if we are playing with other groups that have their own followings as well. My greatest premonition about MNska is that it might limit us to playing all ska shows, and we all at least like to think that our sound is ... diverse to say the least, genre-defying if you will.
So ... anyone and everyone -- chime in.
Posted by Andrew Richner at October 31, 2005 09:54 PMI will go, I have a guilt debt to pay for not being at the last two fountainhead shows.
Posted by: Peter Aram Constantian at October 31, 2005 10:33 PMI would love to play. I will talk to some people at school today.
Posted by: Justin Bunke at November 1, 2005 07:20 AMWhoa, that rhymed

Posted by: Michael Harms at November 1, 2005 10:55 AMI won't vote because I won't be there. Sounds awesome though...
Posted by: Taylor at November 1, 2005 02:12 PMHeck, if you guys get something together, I'll bring friends with.
Posted by: Einstein at November 1, 2005 02:26 PMIf I am able to go, I will go.
Posted by: Derek Britson at November 1, 2005 03:54 PMI will definitely be there!
Posted by: Hannah at November 1, 2005 04:11 PMI don't know, the 17th is right in the middle of finals for me. And we need to practice at some point.
Posted by: Nate at November 1, 2005 04:22 PMThere are six weekends between now and then. I think we can plan on practicing on at least one of those.
We probably would've gotten our five hours from Woodshed if we hadn't waited forever. We'd have something set up in Duluth if it wasn't too far. If you don't wanna play with us anymore, fine.
But give us something more definite than just copping out all the time.
Posted by: Andrew Richner at November 1, 2005 06:07 PMSorry.
I don't want to sound like I'm quitting or anything, but I always thought Fountainhead would be laid to rest once college came. I'll still play, but I don't want it to take priorty over my *NERD ALERT* education. Dig?
Posted by: Nate at November 1, 2005 06:28 PMOh yeah, and I'll do ANYTHING during the summer.
Posted by: Nate at November 1, 2005 06:30 PMOkay well let me know sometime soon whether this is a go. Sorry but this stuff is a bitch to schedule. It looks really easy at first, but I don't know how many hours I've spent just on this one show and it's not even for sure yet.
Posted by: Andrew Richner at November 1, 2005 06:51 PMAlso, if you have some ideas for good times in January that I can give to the guy at the Red Sea that'd rock.
Posted by: Andrew Richner at November 1, 2005 09:02 PMNate, did that guy ever find you and talk to you?
Posted by: Michael Harms at November 1, 2005 09:27 PMWhat guy?

Posted by: Dittmar at November 2, 2005 07:53 AMAlright ... how are weekends in January looking for everyone? They look pretty good to me. I have no ideas what my class schedule will look like next semester, but I for one have winter break until January 17.
Granted, we probably wouldn't be able to draw as big of a crowd during a break, but it's worth a shot nonetheless.
So dates to confirm your ability to make it to a performance:
December 17th
January 6th
January 7th
January 8th
January 13th
January 14th
January 15th
January 20th
January 21st
January 22nd
January 27th
January 28th
January 29th
Could I get some confirmation on something up in hizzy? I can always try to float a weekday sometime in there as well, so if we can find something good, we might as well try it.
Posted by: Andrew Richner at November 2, 2005 10:26 AMMan if i could I'd be all up in the MT stuff checking if that might actually be Dittmar but I can't.
Obviously, I haven't planned out all my schedule that far ahead, but I don't see anything life-changing happening that would keep me from my homies.
Posted by: Michael Harms at November 2, 2005 01:17 PMWell just check around and let's try to get ONE of those dates to be good and open and we'll schedule that. Cool?
Posted by: Andrew Richner at November 2, 2005 01:42 PMI've got J-term throughout January, so I should be relatively open.
Posted by: Nate at November 2, 2005 01:59 PMHow does the weekend of January 13th sound for people? I looked it up and it's early dismissal and a three-day weekend for ISD 535 kids, and it's inside of J-Term and Winter Break for most of us College types.
I'm going to wait until I get better confirmation from members before I email back the guy at the Red Sea Club. Does anyone have David's number? I'd like to give him a ring.
Posted by: Andrew Richner at November 2, 2005 03:13 PMI ran into him at best buy. I will give it to you sometime when you are online.
Posted by: Justin Bunke at November 2, 2005 04:39 PMI would come to a Fountainhead show. Also I could spread the word. I know quite a few people who would want to go with already.

Well, this may be a little tricky for me now. ISU has become bowl eligible, but we won't know what bowl that will be until later. So, the later part of December might be some trouble for me.

Posted by: Taylor at November 9, 2005 06:08 PMAlright. I'm gonna cancel out of that December date and try to get Saturday January 14th in its stead at The Red Sea. Everyone cool with that?
